Can You Really Make Money With HubPages?

I’m really impressed by how many of you are willing to give this online article money thing a shot.  I received a few private emails asking me questions and I thought it would be better if I re-explained making money with Hubpages and whether or not you can really make money with Hubpages since there were somethings I need to mention and others that I needed to clarify.

First, let’s be clear what Hubpages is and is not.  Hub Pages is a website where you can write articles using their strong website and get a share of the Google Adsense revenue (along with EBAY and Amazon if you are a member of these programs as well).  It’s really as simple as that, but BUT if you don’t put effort into writing good articles, you aren’t going to make much money.  Let’s do an example.

Example 1: You sign up for Hubpages and write a 200 word article slopped together from stuff you pasted from Wikipedia in 5 minutes.

Result: You won’t make anything.  In fact, you may even get banned from Hubpages as this is against their policy.

Example 2: You sign up for Hubpages and write a great, informational 650 word article over great Father’s Day gifts.

Result: This really has potential, especially in the weeks leading up to Father’s Day.  Hubpages typically has decent search engine rank, but you could really help yourself by telling your friends and family on Facebook or Twittering about the article with a link to the article.  You may end up making $20 – $40 from this one seasonal article if you write it in advance.

Perhaps the Father’s Day article was a poor example because it will come and go, but something like reviewing your specific current computer (for example HP desktop 2009M on mine) could make you a buck here and there for the entire year.  Guess what, if you have an article that makes just 10 cents a day for the rest of the year, that’s $36.50 – not to mention the fact you could make income for each year thereafter with no additional work involved.

Writing articles in this way isn’t like a typical 9-5 job where you write and get paid at the end of the week and that’s something that a lot of people aren’t accustomed to.  You’ve got to put in the time now for the potential to make steady money down the road (FOREVER!).

What I like to do with HubPages is write about 5 great articles in 2.5 hours and then go off and do something else.  I see it as side money for life but because it’s side income I only spend 8 or 10 hours a week doing it.  Will I get a check in 7 days for $9/hr for every hour I worked?  Nope.  But will I get money trickling in residually for my efforts for the rest of my life?  Yes.  And that’s the beauty of it.  When you work a regular job, you’re only going to make a certain amount per hour or per year and you’ll never get any more money for your hard work.  With article writing, you’ll continue making money for forever.

The Key to Making Money With Hubpages is writing Quality Articles and several of them.  Some won’t make you a dime.  Others might make you $3-4 a week or more for the rest of your life.  Sometimes there’s luck involved, but the more articles you write, the more lucky you’ll be if you know what I mean.
