Make Money with Domain Names

I’ve talked about getting money online through websites, but I haven’t addressed making money with domains.  I do this one of two ways.  First, I flip domains that I buy.  For example, in the month of December I sold two domain names for $1200 cash.  These are domains I bought for $8 or $9 bucks.  I’ve had other offers for a few hundred dollars, but I never buy a domain with this little of profit in mind so I’ve turned down quite a few smaller bites.

The other way I get income from domains is buy being a reseller.  Read all about this on my reselling domain names info site.  Basically, being a reseller is I get to step into the same shoes as other places and sell domain names through my site.  How much does it cost to become a reseller?  My company is DotResell and it’s about the cheapest around.  Yes, you have to pay an upfront investment to get a storefront but everything is pretty much made for you and then after you have a store, you can refer your friends and family who want to make websites to your site.

As you can see, I set myself up with multiple streams of income on the web.  This is something you can do as well – it isn’t super complicated or anything.  Last summer, I looked at the possibility of reselling domains since I bought so many and went ahead and took the plunge.  I’m very happy with the decision as it saves me money when I’m buying and I also get to sell through my business to clients and myself.  My online store is DomainShoe.
