The one-sentence version
IWM is for legal, everyday jobs between neighbors — moving, errands, cleaning, assembly, waiting in line, pet care, tutoring, event help. If a job wouldn't be okay to describe to a police officer, a parent, and a licensing board at the same time, it doesn't belong on IWM.
Never allowed
These jobs are blocked automatically, and repeat attempts lead to suspension:
- Anything illegal — including theft, breaking and entering, or helping anyone evade law enforcement.
- Weapons, ammunition, or explosives — buying, selling, transporting, or handling.
- Drugs and controlled substances.
- Sexual or romantic services of any kind.
- Violence, threats, intimidation, stalking, or surveillance of a person.
- Money handling: cashing or depositing checks, wiring or moving money, buying gift cards or crypto for someone else, opening accounts. These are the most common scams that target workers — we block them to protect you.
- Credentials and identity: sharing or obtaining passwords, verification codes, SSNs, or identity documents; making or obtaining fake IDs.
- Academic dishonesty: taking someone's exam or class, writing their essays, homework, or thesis.
- Harm to animals.
- Medical procedures or administering medication — this work requires a license.
- Recruiting for MLMs or other platforms.
- Concealed jobs: "no questions asked", details withheld until in person, or pay far above the described work.
Reviewed before publishing
Some jobs are held briefly for human review because they can be legitimate but often aren't, or carry legal requirements:
- Alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, or vape purchases or pickups
- Licensed-trade work (electrical panels, rewiring, gas lines, structural work)
- Hazardous materials (asbestos, chemical disposal, lead paint, mold)
- Operating heavy machinery
- Transporting sealed or unmarked packages
- Unsupervised care of children
- Unusually high pay with a vague description
You'll be notified when your job is approved or declined — usually within a few hours.
Allowed with a safety note
Jobs mentioning ladder or roof work, general electrical or plumbing help, or pharmacy pickups are published with a visible warning. Workers: only accept work you are trained, insured, and legally allowed to do. Posters: hire licensed professionals for work the law requires them for.
Everything else
Post it. That's what IWM is for.
Enforcement and appeals
Automated screening tells you only the broad policy area — deliberately, so bad actors can't reverse-engineer it. If you believe a block or decline was a mistake, revise and repost, or contact the team; appeals are answered within 72 hours. You can report any job or profile from its page; safety-concern reports are reviewed within an hour. Every moderation action is logged, and suspended users are always told the reason.
